| Thursday Aug 9, 2007 | Fans of our Samurai Detective series will be glad to know that another book (#5) has just been published. It is titled A SAMURAI NEVER FEARS DEATH. In this book, Seikei returns to the city of his birth, Osaka, where Judge Ooka has been assigned to investigate a gang of smugglers. The judge has a special task for Seikei: find a restaurant that serves fugu, the Japanese fish that has a distinctive flavor, but unfortunately can cause a painful and swift death if not prepared properly. Seikei goes to a familiar haunt: his family’s tea business, to find that his younger brother and elder sister are now in charge. They take Seikei to see a puppet theater play, where each of the nearly life-size puppets are operated by three puppeteers, all dressed from head to toe in black. Seikei is soon up to his neck in trouble, as a murder takes place and the number one suspect is--Seikei himself. We have finished writing another book about Seikei and the Judge. This one is titled SEVEN PATHS TO DEATH. Seikei and the Judge, while on a visit to a northern province, are called to examine an unconscious man found in a rice paddy. The Judge's curiosity is piqued by the unusual tattoo on the man's back. It appears to be part of a map. Tracing the origin of the tattoo, and finding the rest of the map will test Seikei's powers to the limit and take him on one of the strangest of his journeys. The publisher has scheduled this book for the fall of 2008. We're disappointed that it will not appear until then, but that's the way it goes in the world of publishing. We hope you will like it when it finally appears. We think it's one of our best. |
